The 6 Views of IntraVUE

IntraVUE provides 6 different views of your network.

In each view, each node of the view has a different

The topology or structure of the nodes is the same in all views.

The current view name is located at the upper-left corner of the browser window..

Three of the views are defined by the IntraVUE, these are the Device View, IP View, and Location View. In these views the view name is automatically configured by the scanning process. The Device View name is the SNMP device name or NetBios name if these are available. The IP View name is always the IP Address and the Location view name is the SNMP location information if SNMP is available from the device.

There are 3 views for which the view name can be configured by the administrator in the General Tab of System Configuration. The main user interface and other dialogs make use of the view names entered in the General Tab. Until changed by the admin they have the names User Defined 1, User Defined 2, and User Defined 3.

For all views, the administrator can configure web links, thumbnail and icon images for each device

Having different images and different web links in each view is one of IntraVUE's most powerful features.

Please see Customizing the Browser for information on changing the default browser display settings.

There is a setting in the ivserver.properties file that establishes the IntraVUE View that will be used when the browser is initially launched and whether icons and thumbnails should be on or off. See the variable named "view.settings" near the end of the file.
