IntraVUE is network visualization and monitoring tool made especially for the needs
of manufacturers and plant-floor managers.
Installed as a Web server application, almost any computers' browser
can view the status of any networked device or piece of equipment.
IntraVUE is a continuous monitoring solution providing the user with valuable information on
the performance and changes that occur on the Network.
IntraVUE continually scans the network to determine if new devices are added
and if currently installed devices are disconnected or moved.
This dynamic capability is enhanced when managed switches and routers are used in the network infrastructure.
IntraVUE is made up of several distinct and integrated components:
Network Scanner. Continuously monitors the configured networkw checking for device disconnections, new devices added, and threshold data from SNMP MIB data fields. The scan engine uses Ping and ARP to detect the presence of devices and SNMP to get information about the hierarchy of the network. This information is stored in the database.
Relational Database MySql. This is the area in which both scanned information, administrator configurations, and events are stored.
Web Server (Apache eTomcat). Provides the framework for IntraVUE servlets and applets.
Applet based User Interface. The browser utilizes a hyperbolic visualization methodology that allows a very complex network to be displayed on a single screen. This visualization is integrated into a java Applet that is sent to the Client device. The applet is updated on a periodic basis to allow the most current information to be displayed on any client browser.
Additionally IntraVUE has additional components, some of which may be installed.
Auto-IP is an automatic, enhanced BootP server which works in conjunction with IntraVUE. Auto-IP is described in Appendix G and is installed in demo mode if not purchased.
